You Don't Have to Be Thai to Know Thailand Like a Local

Your shortcut to thinking, speaking, and eating like one of their own — from someone who became Thai.

You've been to Thailand. Maybe once, maybe five times. You love the food, the chaos, the warmth of the people. You've wandered through night markets and temples and islands so beautiful they made you put your phone down for once.

But you know there's a whole layer underneath that you're not reaching. The conversations you can't follow. The menus you can't read. The cultural stuff nobody explains in a travel guide. The real Thailand — the one the locals live in every day.

That's what Fake Thai Club is for.

What is Fake Thai Club?

Fake Thai Club is your one-stop shop for all things Thai. Language. Culture. Travel. Food. The stuff you need to know and the stuff you didn't know you needed to know.

Our founding member and president Valerie (aka. มุ้ย) is a certified Fake Thai and she's eager to teach everyone how to become one too.

The goal is simple: know Thailand so well that people start to wonder if you're actually Thai.

The Airport Story

I was at Chiang Mai Airport not long ago. I walked up to the information desk and I could see the receptionist bracing herself — another foreigner, time to switch to English. Then I opened my mouth and spoke to her in fluent Thai.

She froze for half a second. You could see the confusion flicker across her face. Then she composed herself and answered my question like nothing happened.

That moment? That's the dream. That's what Fake Thai Club is here to help you experience for yourself.
